The mountains are beyond belief, the lakes shine in the sun like silver. The Road to the Sun is long and at times scary, but we could barely breathe for the scenery, so who would notice the intake of breath due to fear? I was white-knuckled for quite awhile near Logan Pass, and Randy was a bit green on the way back down. We had a picnic next to Avalanche Creek. We got in and out of our car at nearly every pull-off; that's about 89 stops. I shot 145 pictures, Randy shot 6,000. (OK, that might be a bit of an exaggeration, but that's how it seemed.)
Tonight I will be brief with words and flush with photos.
But first,
The Historic Kalispell Grand Hotel, we have decided, is one of the best places we've come across in a long while. Serving guests since January 3, 1912, this wonderful old hotel is right in the middle of downtown Kalispell. It has an elevator, which is a biggie for us. (We didn't get one the night before at a large and more expensive chain motel.)
The lobby is warmly decorated with antiques and fun hats and local art for sale. Our room on the third floor is so clean that we could literally eat off the floor, and for a change we are leaving the bedspreads on the beds. There is a full bath with immaculate white towels, and the whole room has been kept up to date, fresh, and here I am using their free wifi. I cannot say enough good things about this hotel. For that reason I will post the photos of it first...........
So keep on looking, for Glacier National Park is after the hotel pictures.
We were in Glacier National Park for approximately 9 hours.................I barely blinked! The dog in a photo, Abigail, is not ours. We met her in the park today.
Good things about Glacier: See the photos!
Bad things about Glacier : Nothing!
So this is the end of my writing for tonight, folks. I am going to post my photos of the park and then close my eyes and give them a break. To quote Scarlett, "Tomorrow is another day."
Peace
